My Picture a Day for 2006

This is a brief photo-diary of my photographic adventures in 2006. There will be a post each day of my favorite image that I have taken that day. I hope you enjoy them.

Name:
Location: Florida, United States

Keeping this profile thing short, I take some pictures and I go on occasional rants. This blog is to give me an outlet for those two activities (mostly photos).

Day 304 Happy Halloween

Ghost and goblin night again. This is all of the goodies we had left after the ToT was finished.

Monday, October 30, 2006

Day 303

I was playing around with one of the cats and got this. Notice the flaw in his right ear. This happenned one night when he apparently ticked one of the other cats off. It healed OK but never grew back together.

Day 302

It was cookout day and as much of the gang that has been together in a long time made it today. We were missing Tracy. See you next time.

DaY 301

Today is another real estate picture. You can't tell here but it is across the street from the St. John's River. Very nice. I want it.

Day 300

I had to stop by Colonial Photo and Hobby today so I swung into Lake Eola Park on my way home. This is one of the many swans that Eola Park is known for.

Day 300 Bonus Picture

I dedided to throw this one in just cause it is such a contrast to the other one.

Day 299

This is another picture of one of the kids. This is Mindy, kickin' back and relaxin'.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006

Day 298

One of the services I offer is real estate photography. I don't have a bunch of clients but I have some good ones. This is a house I shot tonight. By the way, if you need a house ...

Blake Rambo

(I'm not sure if this was a commercial for me or for Blake)

Day 297

This is a picture of another rose that I got for Reba 'cause she's such a sweetie.

Monday, October 23, 2006

Day 296

There is really not much to say here. there is no really interesting (or even uninteresting) story behind this lamp. It just is.

Sunday, October 22, 2006

Day 295

I'm sure that any guys reading this remember making paper footballs and playing in study hall. Now kids apparently don't even need to make them any more. Budweiser now furnishes them and calls them "flickballs".

Saturday, October 21, 2006

Day 294

A while back, Reba brought home this wine bottle. I'm not sure where she got it. It was probably when she was shopping with Moe.

Friday, October 20, 2006

Day 293

Don't ever let it be said that I don't make every effort to cater to the whims of the readers of this blog. (See comment on day 290). Here ya' go Moe.

Now the fine print for the lawyers:

Pumpkin stem lighting can be dangerous. Do not try this at home. Anyone who attempts to duplicate this image is doing so at his/her own risk. The original creator of the image is not responsible for damages to persons or property resulting from any recreation attempt.

Day 292

I was watching game 7 of the NLCS tonight and had some trouble breaking away to get a picture. When this fat old cat walked up and flopped down on the floor, it left me with a perfect quick shot. I didn't miss a pitch.

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

Day 291

Since it was brought to my attention that pumpkins are not necessarily associated only with Halloween but also with Autumn, I'm putting up another one. Most people will carve a pumpkin and put a candle inside. This one was very small so I just lit the pumpkin. I would like to note that pumpkin lighting can be very dangerous and should only be tried by professionals.

Day 290

As a follow-up to the post a couple of days ago ("Waitin' for the wine"), I guess we could call this "Waitin' for the apple Martini" (I have to credit Reba with the idea for this).

Monday, October 16, 2006

Day 289

Reba bought these tiny pumpkins at the grocery store yesterday. It's early for Halloween pictures I guess. Oh well.

Sunday, October 15, 2006

Day 288

This is why people go to Clearwater Beach.

Day 288 Bonus Picture

On Saturday we went out on a tour boat that guaranteed that we would see dolphin. It was a nice ride that we enjoyed but the dolphin didn't cooperate. We weren't particularly concerned about it but the proprietors offered everyone another trip which could be taken anytime in the next 30 days. Since we were leaving Sunday, we figured we could get up in the morning, have breakfast and go for another ride. This time we did see polphin. I was really surprised to see how they would come up and play in the boat's wake.

Day 287

Reba and I decided to get away this weekend and so we went down to Clearwater beach. We didn't really have a plan, just a little R and R. Once we got checked into the hotel, we took a drive around. Our hotel was on the beach but just to the south of us was a park called Sand Key (I think). It jutted out into the Gulf and looked good from the hotel beach so we made a visit. I was surprised to see a public beach that was not crowded at all for a Saturday afternoon. This sign was posted near the jetty.

Day 287 Bonus Picture

I couldn't stay on the beach on the west coast without posting a sunset picture. This was from our hotel room beach.

Friday, October 13, 2006

Day 286

I chased this guy all over the park trying to get him to stay still long enough for a picture.

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Day 285

Waiting for the wine...

Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Day 284

Just an old beer glass.

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Day 283

This will be the first of short, mostly black and white series of glasses. This one is a self portrait. (you have to look very closely)

Monday, October 09, 2006

Day 282

Popcorn bag...it was getting late, OK?

Sunday, October 08, 2006

Day 281

This is an odd little picture. It was another expeiment gone awry. I was attempting to combine 2 pictures, one of the moon and tree with the moon in focus and one with tree in focus. It didn't work so you get the tree in focus.

Friday, October 06, 2006

Day 280

Today was the day for the annual Blessing of the Animals. Friends of ours, Carol and Blake Rambo, (Father Blake) had one at their church in NSB and Reba and I went. I got some shots of some very nice dogs and cats. This one particular dog caught my attention. His owner told him to smile for the camera and...

Day 279

I am wrapping up the first edit of the wedding tonight so I can get the disk to the bride and groom. This will give me a little more time to devote to the PAD so unfortunately, this will be the last of the spread series. Don't be disappointed, I'll throw a bonus picture in once in a while.

Thursday, October 05, 2006

Day 278

Next in the series...Butter...or is it?

Wednesday, October 04, 2006

Day 277

Today's picture is the first of a series of photos entitled "Stuff That You Can Spread With A Knife". It will not ba a lengthy series so don't expect it to cover all of the items in this category. (I know you're disappointed). First in the series...Peanut Butter.

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

Day 276

I have been going blind editing wedding pictures and I almost forgot to do this today. Who gets the last piece of pie?

Monday, October 02, 2006

Day 275

Do you remember last week when I mentioned that Reba went shopping with Mellissa and came home with a couple of candle holders? Well, they went again today and it seems Reba just can't go shopping with Moe without buying something and there seems to be a pattern forming here. Looks like Autumn doesn't it?

Day 274

A casualty of the wedding I shot yesterday was this module for my flash. I have been using these flashes and modules for years with nary a mishap but I guess I just caught this wrong and it snapped off in the bracket. It was my fault I guess but it didn't seem like it should have broken so easily. I did e-mail the company just to see if maybe they'll feel sorry for me and send a new one. What do you think the odds are of that?
