My Picture a Day for 2006
This is a brief photo-diary of my photographic adventures in 2006. There will be a post each day of my favorite image that I have taken that day. I hope you enjoy them.

Keeping this profile thing short, I take some pictures and I go on occasional rants. This blog is to give me an outlet for those two activities (mostly photos).

Day 328
Things have settled down a little since Thanksgiving. It seemed pretty quiet around here today. I had a chance to go to Gemini Springs for a few minutes this evening. This heron sat on the pier for a long time. I got to within about 7 feet of him before he finally flew off. I was amazed that he stayed that long.
P.S. If you happened to check the site last night and think you saw a different picture here, you are not crazy. The more I looked at it, the less I liked it so I put this one up instead. (Same heron)

Day 311
We went and voted today. I guess it didn't end up doing a lot of good but it's something people need to do. Now I have to admit that I had to hold my nose this year in some cases when I marked the ballot, but it was definately a "lesser of the two evils" thing this time. For those that without really knowing what and who you were voting for but just decided that t was time to change parties, just remember that sometimes you need to be careful what you ask for. Is there anyone my age who had to take Americanism vs. Communism in high school? Watch congress this term. You will probably recognize some things.
Remember in the coming years that three of the key points to making Communism feasible are
1) A progressive tax which takes money from the people who have it and give it to those that don't. Sound familiar. How's the USSR doing now?
2) Take the job of educating kids from the parents and give it to the government. Sound familiar?
3) Remove God from as much of peoples thinking as possible. Sound familiar?
I feel a rant coming on but I'll save it for another blog. When I get it done I'll post a link.
Good luck USSA. (United Socialist States of America)

Day 305 OK, this was weird.
I have a story about tonight's picture. I really should have done this one last night but I didn't..
Last Christmas, Reba wanted a Roomba. For anyone who isn't familiar with them, they are robotic vacuum cleaner that you can turn loose in your house and it will vacuum the floor and then dock itself in the charger to get ready for next time. This one worked fine for about 3 months and then just died. I checked it and it just appeared to have had something go wrong inside. Of course Reba had thrown away the receipts and other items necessary for the warranty to be honored. So, it has been sitting in the family room on it's charger but showing no signs of life for about 7 or 8 months now. Last night (Keep in mind that it was Halloween) we were in the living room when we heard a strange sound. As we searched out the sound, we entered the family room to find that the Roomba had come back to life, turned itself on, and decided to go ahead and vacuum the floor while it was awake. It ran around for a while, docked itself and started recharging. If it had been any night but Hallowee...
